Dermal fillers are injectable treatments used to restore or enhance facial volume, improve contours, and soften certain lines and folds. Many commonly used fillers are made with hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body that helps attract and retain moisture.

Gloss Medical Aesthetics & Laser exclusively offers Juvéderm products for dermal filler treatments. Different products within the Juvéderm collection are designed for specific treatment areas and aesthetic goals, allowing your provider to customize treatment based on your facial anatomy and desired outcome.

Dermal fillers can be used in several areas of the face depending on the specific product, your anatomy, and your treatment goals. Common areas may include the cheeks, lips, chin, jawline, smile lines or nasolabial folds, and other areas affected by facial volume loss. Rather than treating each area in isolation, Gloss evaluates how the features of your face relate to one another. This allows filler placement to focus on facial balance and proportion while maintaining a natural appearance.

Gloss exclusively uses products from the Juvéderm collection of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. The Juvéderm family includes different formulations designed for specific treatment areas, depths, and aesthetic concerns. The appropriate Juvéderm product is selected based on factors such as the area being treated, the amount of volume or structural support needed, your facial anatomy, and the desired result. Your provider will discuss the recommended product and treatment plan during your consultation.

The longevity of Juvéderm varies depending on the specific product used, treatment area, amount injected, and individual factors such as metabolism. Depending on the Juvéderm product and indication, results may last approximately 6 months to 2 years. Your provider can recommend an individualized maintenance schedule based on the product used and how your body responds.

There is no universal number of syringes appropriate for every patient. The amount of filler needed depends on your facial anatomy, treatment area, degree of existing volume loss, and desired outcome. Some patients may achieve their goals with a conservative amount of filler, while others may benefit from a gradual treatment plan performed over multiple appointments. At Gloss, recommendations are based on what is appropriate for your face rather than automatically using a predetermined number of syringes.

Dermal filler does not have to create an exaggerated or overfilled appearance. Results are highly influenced by treatment planning, product selection, placement, amount injected, and the patient's underlying facial anatomy. For patients seeking subtle results, treatment can be performed conservatively and built gradually when appropriate.

Most patients experience some degree of pressure, pinching, or temporary discomfort during filler injections, but treatment is generally well tolerated. Many Juvéderm formulations contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic that helps improve comfort during the injection process.

Because Juvéderm products are made with hyaluronic acid, they can generally be dissolved using an injectable enzyme called hyaluronidase when clinically appropriate. Dissolving may be considered for certain unwanted aesthetic outcomes or complications involving hyaluronic acid filler. 

Temporary swelling, redness, tenderness, firmness, and bruising can occur following dermal filler injections. Some treatment areas, particularly the lips, may initially appear fuller because of post-injection swelling. Your results should be evaluated after the initial swelling has had time to improve. Your Gloss provider will provide individualized aftercare instructions and explain when you should contact the practice regarding any unexpected symptoms.
